The work was conducted at two sites. At one of them were discovered relics of the people of Lusatian culture (from the late Bronze Age and early Iron Age between 1100 and 400 BC).

At the other were relics of the Mierzanowice culture, which developed in the early Bronze Age, i.e., between 2300 and 1800 BC.

Archaeological research was conducted at the request of the Małopolska Regional Conservator of Monuments.

Over an area of 38 acres, they conducted excavations on two sites in Jawiszowice (5 and 6), as well as six additional rescue excavations on the Jawiszowice archaeological site.

Jawiszowice 5

During the excavations, conducted in September and October 2023, Jawiszowice 5, an area of 30 acres was surveyed. Eight buried archaeological sites were discovered. Six of them are deep resource pits, which originally served as cellars.

The other two, referred to as post pits, are the remains of wooden posts driven into the ground, a component of an over-ground structure that the survey did not capture.

Fragments of clay vessels were also encountered, dating back to the Lusatian culture.

Jawiszowice 6

A few hundred meters away, at Jawiszowice 6, six archaeological objects were registered, three of which are post pits, two broadly defined utility pits (former cellars) related to the functioning of the settlement, and an object identified as a ditch.

In the fill of one of the objects, during its exploration, three relics made of flint and 24 fragments of pottery from the Mierzanovice culture were found.

A flint arrowhead, intricately constructed out of Jurassic flint, was also discovered. Additionally, 34 flint monuments and three fragments of pottery were also discovered within the site.
