Ingrida Šimonytė is a Lithuanian economist and politician. Since 2020, she has served as the 17th Prime Minister of Lithuania. Prior to this role, she was Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2012. Šimonytė has represented the Antakalnis constituency in the Lithuanian Lower House of Parliament (Seimas) since 2016. She ran for president in 2019, narrowly losing in the runoff.

Diving into the intricacies of Lithuania’s position in the EU and its 20 years of membership, she stated that “the EU is not only about better life, it’s about economic relations, about the ability to travel, to live where you want to, for flows of capital, people, and businesses and services.”
