Krah is the main candidate for his party in the upcoming European Parliament elections in June. He has been accused of having connections with Russia and China. Furthermore, his employee, Jian G., is currently in custody on suspicion of espionage for China, with the federal prosecutor’s office identifying him as “an employee of Chinese intelligence services.” “Bild” recalled that Krah did not participate in the campaign kick-off meeting on June 9 in Donaueschingen, southwest Germany. Shortly before the forum, AfD authorities announced that Krah had resigned from participating to “avoid damaging the party’s image”.
According to “Bild”, the strategy of the AfD MEP is to portray himself as a victim of a conspiracy. “They want you to look for spies,” Krah told around 500 of his supporters in Dresden, as quoted by “Bild”.

The AfD MEP stated in Dresden that “spies are a problem. Of course, there are spies in Germany. And of course, there are spies in AfD–from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution,” Krah said, referring to Jian G.’s connections to the Saxon Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

According to media reports Jian G has been an informant for the aforementioned Office since 2007. Soon after, suspicions arose about G.’s possible espionage for China. However, the Saxon Office for the Protection of the Constitution ceased cooperation with Jian G. only in 2018.

The newspaper also noted that AfD leader Tino Chrupalla avoided appearing alongside Krah. And, as “Bild” noted, Chrupalla did not mention the name of the AfD MEP even once during his speech.
