Poland’s flag carrier, PLL LOT, will fly from Warsaw to Saudi Arabia from June 4, scheduling flights to Riyadh three times a week, as well as reinstating daily flights to Athens from April 11.

From May 3, Turkish carrier SunExpress will fly to Izmir, at first three times a week and from July six times weekly, every day except Saturday. SunExpress had previously run a charter service on that route but suspended it in September 2021.

From June, Ethiopian Airlines will conduct flights four times a week to the country’s capital, Addis Ababa.

LOT has also decided to open a regular connection from Warsaw to Tashkent, with the inaugural flight to the Uzbekistan capital launched on March 13.

An airport spokesperson added that from March 31, two new countries, Romania and Bulgaria, are to join the EU’s passport-free Schengen Area for air travel.

“This means that we will no longer direct travelers to those countries to passport control,” she said.

The new connections will mean access to some exciting destinations for tourists from Poland or choosing to travel via the Warsaw Airport. Hopefully, Warsaw will also prove an attractive proposition for globetrotters from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Greece, Uzbekistan, and Ethiopia, as well as Romania and Bulgaria.

Warsaw has been named “European Best Destination” of 2023. Keeping that in mind, be advised that if you hope to see all of it over a weekend, you will probably end up missing more than you actually got to see. Ideally, plan for a week-long stay.

That should at least allow you to see Warsaw’s Top 10 sites stated on the city’s official tourist website.
