The security of our region is at stake: Polish MEP Belka “We need a reform of the decision-making process within the European Union,” Polish MEP and former Prime Minister Marek Belka told TVP World in an interview pertaining to Radosław Sikorski’s speech to the Polish parliament on Thursday. He added that if the unanimity rule is not changed, the EU will be a hostage to outliers like Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán or Slovak PM Robert Fico.

“We need a reform of the decision-making process within the European Union,” Polish MEP and former Prime Minister Marek Belka told TVP World in an interview pertaining to Radosław Sikorski’s speech to the Polish parliament on Thursday. Marek Marian Belka, a Polish professor of economics and seasoned politician, has held notable positions including Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Poland in two administrations. He boasts a rich career history, having served as Director of the European Department at the International Monetary Fund and as Head of the Polish Central Bank (NBP). Presently, he occupies the role of Polish Member of the European Parliament.

TVP World also invited political campaign expert Joshua Burgin who answered on how the position of Poland has changed over the years and noted that “Poland is the hidden gem of Europe in terms of employee base, but also in terms of quality of life.”

Joshua Burgin, Coordinator at the Warsaw Security Forum and Advisor to the European Academy of Diplomacy, has over 30 years of experience in U.S. politics and international affairs, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe. He has held key roles in managing political campaigns and serving as a Resident Country Director in Kazakhstan for the International Republican Institute. Burgin is also committed to mentoring rising leaders and holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
