After failing to qualify for Euro 2024 via the group stage, Poland has one last chance to grab a place at the European Championships in Germany this summer.

Coach Michał Probierz called up 27 players for the March training camp. Before the match against Wales, he had 26 players at his disposal due to Matty Cash's injury.

Probierz had to then whittle down the squad to 23 prior to the Wales match. Heerenveen's Paweł Bochniewicz, Brighton's Jakub Moder, and Legia Warsaw’s Wszołek will not see any action. Damian Szymański of AEK Athens and Bartosz Bereszyński and Sebastian Walukiewicz of Empoli, who were absent in the meeting with Estonia, will fill the void.

Przemysław Frankowski’s availability is of paramount significance. With Matty Cash out, Poland’s right wing was notably weak.

Goalkeeping situation

While Poland boasts a wealth of talent in the goalkeeping position, Wales faces a significant deficit. Danny Ward from Leicester City is likely to be between the sticks on Wednesday evening, despite not featuring for his club all season.

Ward has even dropped to third choice, falling behind Polish second-choice stopper Jakub Stolarczyk, who is not being considered for a place in the Polish national team squad.

Not only has Ward not played a league game for Leicester this season, but his rivals for the number one jersey, Adam Davies (Sheffield United), Wayne Hennessey (Nottingham Forest), and Tom King (Wolverhampton), have accumulated just 360 minutes of game time between them.

Wojciech Szczęsny, Marcin Bułka, and Łukasz Skorupski are among the goalkeeping elite in Europe, with Szczęsny the undisputed number one. Other highly rated keepers, Kamil Grabara, Radosław Majecki, and Bartłomiej Drągowski, did not make the cut.

Poland will face Wales in Cardiff on Tuesday at 20:45 (CET). The match will be broadcast on TVP Sport, tvpsport.pl.
